Diagnose patient conditions and their causes. They interview patients about symptoms and complaints, and determine whether a psychiatric disorder has a physiological or emotional basis. They screen patients for physical illness and analyze explanations for psychiatric illness, such as developmental issues, family dysfunction, genetics, neurological trauma or social or cultural problems. Assessment of risk factors for mental illness and broader wellness evaluations are part of the job as well. Treatment Psychiatric nurses provide a range of therapies to patients in their care. They conduct individual, group or family counseling sessions, and write prescriptions for psychotropic medications under the supervision of psychiatrists and when state regulations allow. For patients on medications, they monitor their use and document treatment results. For patients experiencing a mental crisis, psychiatric nurses may intervene with therapy or medication. Collaboration Psychiatric nurses track patient progress and report their results to doctors, including psychiatrists and psychologists. They work with other medical professionals to evaluate or change treatment plans and educate patients' families.

Depending on your interests, you could tailor your practice to include Urgent Care, Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, Sports Medicine, or Geriatrics. There is opportunity to work in our remote sites and make a real difference to the people of these small towns. EHR and paperwork is pleasantly streamlined and not onerous. You would be joining a group that will supply you with colleagues years of experience to rely on.

• Maintain regularly updated patient medical records that document all evaluations, medications, treatments, allergies, test results and other records
• Evaluate a patient's symptoms and determine the most appropriate course of treatment to address them
• Prescribe medications in compliance with state and federal statutes and inform patients of all possible risks, complications and interference with other medications they may be taking
• Supervise and evaluate Medical Assistants to ensure full compliance with regulations and make sure that the current care program is as effective as possible
• Consult patients on topics such as proper nutrition, fitness and hygiene to assist them in making informed decisions and taking good care of their health

Responsibilities

Examine patients' medical records
Prepare patients for treatment (e.g. by applying oral sedation or anesthesia)
Check teeth, gums and other parts of the mouth, along with X-rays and tests, to diagnose dental problems
Clean teeth and remove plaque
Identify tooth decay and replace cavities with fillings
Design and fit dental prosthetics, such as bridges, crowns and dentures
Apply teeth-whitening treatments
Conduct tooth extractions and root canal procedures
Perform surgeries on diseased tissues and bones
Prescribe medication as needed
Educate patients on proper brushing techniques, flossing and fluoride use
Promote good oral health and preventive dental care (e.g. by scheduling regular check-ups)

Dental Hygienist

A career as a dental hygienist offers a wide range of challenges. In the dental office, the dentist and the dental hygienist work together to meet the oral health needs of patients. Since each state has its own specific regulations regarding their responsibilities, the range of services performed by hygienists varies from state to state. Some of the services provided by dental hygienists may include:

· patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, evaluation of gum disease /health, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse
· expose, process, and interpret dental radiographs (x-rays)
· removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth and gumline
· applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)
· administer local anesthetic and / or nitrous oxide analgesia
